Awesome, thanks for the response! Calaguas does look pretty awesome. I think you’re the first person we’ve met that even knows what Batanes is, haha.

We haven’t quite started sending out newsletters yet, but we hope to keep people updated that way soon (nothing too frequent or annoying). if you’re interested, sign up box is in the side bar under “follow us.” Thanks again!

Hi! So glad you found us. 🙂 *highfive* on understanding! It’s definitely not cheap – though there ARE some people making it work on a very, very tight budget, but we’re not really into staying in 15 person hostel rooms and living off 1 meat stick a day. Haha. It is totally possible to travel comfortably on a decent sum, though, and see some amazing places. Just takes a little thought, and I’m glad you can relate.

I love that you’re an off the beaten path kind of traveler. We should start a club! There’s probably one out there, but I’m too lazy to search for it, so what do you say? 🙂

I just Googled “Calaguas, Camarines Norte” <<< Ummm.... WOW! You know the reason why we went to Batanes in the first place? It was just after typhoon Haiyan, we had made it to Donsol, but still no word from the place we were supposed to stay in El Nido. After meeting a friendly guy in Donsol that told us he'd just come from Batanes, how remote and beautiful it was, well, we changed our plans. 🙂 I've seen some gorgeous beaches, and while El Nido looked great, Batanes seemed truly unique. And it was. Keep that on your bucket list! It's a really special place. Now adding Calaguas, Camarines Norte to mine. 😉

I’m an avid backpacker (I leave the city at least 3 times a year and choose the less traveled places) and I, too, have no idea how other travelers can say this lifestyle is not expensive. I love the comparisson you did, I do this everytime but didn’t realize it can apply to long-time travel too.

Bookmarking your blog 🙂 PS I’m jealous you’ve been to Batanes, it’s in my bucket list. You should go to Calaguas, Camarines Norte when you get back.
