alberobello_photoonthemap_cameraandcarryon I'm not sure why, but somehow the uniquely interesting Trulli of Southeast Italy is not very widely known, at least not here in the U.S.  Italy has so many great sights, I suppose it's no wonder some get overlooked; none the less, this architecture needs to be seen while it's still there. Trulli is a style of construction, mainly in the Bari province of Italy, that is instantly recognizable by it's cone-shaped roofs.  These homes date back to the 17th century, however they are slowly deteriorating as the ancient building skill fades away.  We were lucky enough to stay in our own trullo home, in neighboring Cisternino, and it really was quite magnificent.
