60 Second Sellout. What, What?!?!

I just heard the upcoming boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao sold out in 60 seconds upon its release to the public. 6-0 seconds. What, what?! That’s some serious, record breaking sale time (I think), not to mention the tickets are were going for face value of $1,500 to a whopping $10,000. If you’ve ever purchased a ticket to a major event, you know those rates are going to be hugely inflated for anyone wanting a seat that couldn’t press “buy” quick enough. Scalpers everywhere are rejoicing.

Needless to say, we are NOT attending the fight, but it got me thinking about the Muay Thai scuffle we had near ringside seats for in Chiang Mai. Like apples to bacon bits – there’s no real similarity between the two, other than the basic premise of putting two guys in a ring to decide who is the victor. Ding ding ding!

There’s no way in hell I’d throw down $1,500 for a nosebleed ticket, but what about something more in the $10-$20 range? Sitting in row 2, watching a couple of fellas duke it out isn’t really my idea of a good time, but sure, I’m down for a little Thai combat… So long as it involves a blindfolded spectacle at some point, cheap cocktails, and even cheaper tickets.

Will you be catching the fight in Vegas? {full belly laugh with head back} Yeah, that’s what I thought. Well, maybe a Muay Thai match is more your speed, and better yet, won’t put you in the poorhouse. Ha! Ridiculousness.
